We have a variety of anti-hair fall treatment products available in the market that claimed zero percent hair fall and so on. But the real question is to what extent such products protect your locks.

Lured by these highly well designed advertisement campaign most of the time we follow these product so blindly that we never try to find the real cause behind the hair fall. And when at last we actually do, it is already too late. Lack of Awareness about hair care has already taken a toll on our hairs.

Hair fall is very common phenomenon and a normal human being losses around 80-100 strands every day which is medically acceptable but beyond this limit it’s actually an alarming situation for your hairs. It may be a serious problem. Well many reasons attributed to hair fall which includes seasonal variation, environment factor, sudden change of hair care product, dandruff but these are temporary causes and are very much treatable. But there are some serious hair fall problems which if aren’t diagnosing at a time will result in permanent hair fall problem.

Major Causes of hair fall

Androgenic Alopecia: Also known as male or female pattern baldness, Androgenic alopecia is the most common form of hair fall found in male and female. In Men Androgenic alopecia, hair loss starts with well defined pattern just above the both temples, shrinking the hairline to “M ‘Shape. Well the numbers of genetic and environmental factors are responsible for the Androgenic alopecia. However in females this pattern of hair loss is quite different. In females, hairline does not recede but hair becomes extremely thin all over the head.

Several factors such as coronary heart disease, enlargement of the prostrate, disorder of insulin resistance, high blood pressure can trigger the Androgenic alopecia in men, while in women androgenic alopecia is associated with increased risk of the polysystic ovary syndrome which can start as early as in adolescence. Along with these factors, a hormone called ‘Dihydrotestosteron is also supposed to associate with both male/female pattern baldness. However it is still unclear how Androgenic alopecia is inherited.

Alopecia Areata

Alopecia Areata is an autoimmune disease in which immune system starts destroying hair follicles. In Alopecia Areta hair start losing in the patches, with enrobed or bared scalp. Well researchers are still working on finding the exact cause of the alopecia Areata. Alopecia areta mostly affects the scalp and beard but in severe cases it extends to any hair bearing part of the body.

Well there is no specific sysptom of alopecia areta except small bald patches, which may take round and oval form. In some cases patients losses all the hair on the scalp which is called Alopecia Totalis. While in Alopecia Universalia person losses all body hair including ‘Pubic’ hair.

Trichotillomania: Trichotillomania is a condition in which a person feels a repeated urge to pull or twist the hair until it breaks off completely. Trichotillomania is a kind of impulsive control disorder in which patient feels completely helpless and over the time continued to repeat his behaviour. The main cause of Trichotillomania is still unknown. It is said that women have four times more chance of the trichotillomania.
